All I want for Christmas

thedaimaofanficarchiveHe stares at the unmoving screen, waiting for his skype to pop up telling him that he had an incoming call. The young college student, Hamao Kyosuke, groans and collapses back against his bed. “Maybe he forgot...or got caught up in work.” Mao closes his eyes, trying not to become overcome with grief at his current situation. After a minute, he takes a deep breath and sits up, “Maybe I got the wrong time.” He goes back to his laptop and clicks open his email. His eyes quickly scan his messages between him and his boyfriend. When he finds the message he is looking for, he reads it over a couple times.
‘Do not worry, Mao. I will make sure that we will get to see each other on Christmas. :) My Christmas wish will not come true unless I see your smiling face on Christmas day. I know it will be early, but I will contact you at 12 am your time.

The young man looks over at his digital clock as the the time blinked from 12:15 to 12:16. “I can’t blame him if he didn’t get the time to call...he has his own life in Japan and I have my own life in New York. I just wish I didn’t have to be alone on the holidays.” He looks over at his roommate's side of the room. He had helped his roommate pack and leave yesterday, so he could be with his family and friends during the holidays.
*knock knock knock*
Mao’s head snaps up at the soft sound. He hesitantly gets up, wondering who it could be so late at night. Suddenly, a soft and deep voice starts to drift in from the hallway, “I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There is just one thing I need. I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree. I just want you for my own, more than you can ever know. Make my wish come true~ All I want for Christmas is you~...”
The college student stands frozen in his room at the sound of the sweet familiar voice. All at once his worries, sadness, and loneliness meltes away.
“Mao…?” says the soft voice.
“D-dai-chan?”
A warm and deep chuckle makes its way into the room, “Yes.” Mao runs to the door and throws it open. The one that he has only wished to atleast video chat with is standing right in front of him.
“How?” He manages to squeak out. “I-is this a dream?” Mao looks over the tall and handsome man standing in front of him. The man’s eyes are the color of dark chocolate, that he loves, and are filled with warmth. His smile is bright, kind, and the only smile that could make his heart beat so wildly. The college student gently touches the man's face and he knew he was not dreaming and begins to cry. Daisuke lets out a low and warm chuckle as he wraps his arms around his boyfriend.
“It was a lot of work to get here, but seeing your face, hearing your voice...I would do it all over again and more to be here with you.” Mao looks up at him and Daisuke leans down and gently kisses his lover. Mao kisses back. When the man pulls back he gives a heartwarming smile, “Merry Christmas, Mao.”
“Merry Christmas, Dai-chan.”
